Schlumberger invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher at their Abingdon Technology Centre.

The Project

Schlumberger are currently market leader is the simulation of multi-phase fluid flow within hydro-carbon reservoirs (reservoir simulation). To maintain this position the company is researching a set of novel numerical techniques to improve the quality of the simulations, in particular the scaling properties of the simulator itself. The project is a time limited research effort to decide if a specific new approach has a commercial future.

The Candidate

The Candidate will probably have recently completed a PhD in a mathematical science (Maths, Physics, Engineering), have an enthusiasm for programming, coupled with a willingness to tackle new topics. Specific programming experience is not required, rather she/he needs to demonstrate a tenacious ability to solve problems in a wide range of disciplines.
