Alan Tayler Lecture
The 2007 Alan Tayler Lecture will be delivered by Prof Ian Stewart of the University of Warwick. The lecture entitled "Symmetries in biological and physical networks" will be held on 26th November 2007 at 5pm in the Bernard Sunley Building, St Catherine's College in Oxford.

KTN Finance workshop: Challenges in Quantitative Risk Management for Insurance
The second workshop of the KTN Finance series "Challenges in Quantitative Risk Management for Insurance" will be held on 29 November at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Edinburgh jointly organised by the Maxwell Institute and the Industrial Mathematics KTN. KTN Workshop on Industrial-scale Software Verification
The KTN Workshop on Industrial-scale Software Verification will be held on 12-14 March 2008 at the Microsoft Research Cambridge. The workshop is being organised by the Industrial Mathematics KTN, in collaboration with Microsoft Cambridge and GC6. You can register your expression of interest by contacting Dr Rebecca Gower.

Sainsbury review published
Lord Sainsbury's review of the Government's science and innovation policies was published on 5 October 2007. In accepting Lord Sainsbury's recommendation the Government announced a number of new policies and measures.

Industrial Inverse Problems workshop
Leeds University will be hosting a workshop on Industrial Inverse Problems on 17th and 18th March 2008. Industrialists and academics are invited to register their interest in this workshop, which will be facilitated by the Industrial Mathematics KTN.

ECMI2008 deadline for mini-symposia proposals: 30 November 2007
Between 30 June and 4 July 2008, the Biennial Conference of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI) comes to the UK for the first time in 20 years. The KTN for Industrial Mathematics is proud to be one of the conference's main sponsors. The deadline for mini-symposia proposals is 30 November 2007.

One CASE Award now recruiting
One more Industrial CASE Award project is looking for a talented student. The project "Bayesian characterization of neurological disorders using nonlinear and fractal speech signal analysis" is based at Oxford University in collaboration with Intel Corporation.
