The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) have formed a strategic partnership to fund novel research in signal processing, and are launching a call for outline proposals to address research challenges in the area of signal processing.
EPSRC and DSTL are launching a Call for Outline proposals, to address research challenges in the area of signal processing. It is expected that many academic disciplines will have research ideas to contribute to this call. Up to £2 million is available for this call. They envisage a mix of short term proposals and PhD project based programmes to be successful in this call. Successful proposals will make up the ‘open’ aspect of the DSTL University Defence Research Centre (UDRC) on Signal Processing.
The closing date for outlines is 29 October 2008.
There are thirty technical challenges for the UDRC (see links below) which are given as guidance to typical relevant problems. The Open strand of the research could tackle any of these challenge areas or other research that can be shown to be relevant. Research would be conducted at an unclassified level only.
Further information can be found on the EPSRC website.
