The Bath Institute for Complex Systems (BICS) will hold a conference on "Emergence in complex systems" at the University of Bath on 9-11 September 2008.

The selected topics for this conference are:

• complex physical and mechanical systems,
• collective behaviour and self-organisation,
• network models,
• the social sciences and economics.
