BICS (Bath Institute for Complex Systems) is holding an Industrial Complexity Day at the University of Bath on 10 July 2009.
Complexity is central to many problems arising in a wide range of different industries. These include modelling the behaviour of people and systems, understanding climate and environmental change, customer complexity, and the challenge of monitoring, validating, designing and understanding, large and often very complex and noisy processes. The purpose of this meeting will be to focus on the potential impact of complexity research in industry and the challenges that this poses. A planned outcome will be the establishment of an 'Industrial Complexity Forum' which will lead to an open dialogue between industry and academia centred on complexity, and the establishment of multidisciplinary teams able to exploit complexity research.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Keith Briggs, BT;
- Christopher Dean, Airbus;
- Joshy Easaw, Dept of Economics and International Development;
- Wolfram Just, QMUL;
- Robert Leese, Smith Institute.
