The Future for Complexity Science, University of Bath, 15-16 September 2009
BICS (Bath Institute for Complex Systems) is hosting a meeting on "The Future for Complexity Science" at the University of Bath from 15-16 September 2009.
This meeting will examine the present condition and future development of Complexity Science, and the tools that are available to study complex systems. Invited international leaders will reflect on the progress that has been made, identify the key insights that have guided research so far, and set out the challenges that remain.
Topics:
- Modelling and analysis of multi-scale problems
- Structure of biological populations
- Deterministic properties of highly disordered systems
- Numerical methods for multi-scale problems
- Highly structured stochastic systems
Speakers include:
- Mark Ainsworth, University of Strathclyde
- Chris Glasbey, Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland
- Arvind Gupta, MITACS
- Wolfgang Hackbusch, Max-Planck-Institute
- Tom Hou, CalTech
- Alexander Mielke, WIAS-Berlin
- Ian Sloan, University of New South Wales
- Peter Tass, BioSim
