The resulting model will contribute towards a larger programme of work which will help to reduce costs by: (1) enabling candidate designs to be assessed early in the design cycle, so the need for extensive R&D testing can be curtailed; (2) allowing engineers to iterate and determine the most cost effective product design; (3) enabling the risk of final conformance test failure to be quantified, and corrective steps taken.
